Frequently asked questions
1. What are your products made of ?
Most of our items are made of polyester resin, reinforced with fibreglass for additional strength. To create a high quality finish we work with additives like stone and marble powders, metal powders (iron, bronze, aluminium and copper), and colour pigments. In other cases we use superior paints like polyurethane, automotive lacquers, and acrylics.
2. What are the advantages of working with resin ?
Resin (fibreglass) is a very versatile medium and is used in many different industries. Water tanks and cool boxes are commonly made of resin. But even speed boats and luxury yachts are constructed with fibreglass. Since resin is applied in moulds, the shape and form of the end product is always consistent.
3. How are your products made?
All our products are completely made by hand and most are made with the aid of a mould; the mould contains a hollow cavity in the desired shape and is filled with resin, fibreglass and hardeners. This mixture hardens after which a solid shape can be ejected from the mould. After exhaustive sanding, each product is painted by hand by our skilful artists.
4. Are your products designed for outdoors?
In most cases resin is perfectly suitable for outdoors because heat, frost and rain have little or no influence on this material. Some finishes, like our Roman Stone, will last forever, require very minimal maintenance, and their overall appearance will only improve when exposed to rain and sunlight. However, not all our products can be exposed to the elements and therefore some items are recommended for indoor use only.
5. How are the items packed?
Each item is individually packed in a polybag and carefully placed in a double density carton box with extra cushions and inserts for additional protection. Large items in odd shapes (like our dinosaurs for example) are packed in carton wraps to save space in the container. Our heavy roman stone and concrete items are packed in wooden crates for easy transportation and handling as well as for added protection. Other packaging requirements are possible as well like drop test packaging or additional prints on the box.
6. Can we manufacture customized designs?
Yes, that is possible but it requires time. Based on your ideas or drawings, our most skilful artists have to sculpt your design in clay or plaster and that can take up to several months if the design is complicated or contains many fine details. As soon as you have approved the sculpture we need to prepare a rubber mould to duplicate it into a master. Once the master is ready we can construct a production mould with which we can finally mass produce your design. For special theme building project for a hotel, restaurant, theme parks, spa centers and others, feel free to look thru our theme building website, www.themebuilders.biz and u may have a idea on your next project.
7. Can we change the finish of an item?
Yes, in most cases that will be possible.
8. How long does it take before my order is ready for shipment?
Most items will be delivered within 48 hours in the metropolitan area and 3 - 7 working days in country/interstate regions. If Emporium of Art does not have a particular item on stock, Especially custom and unique items, Then generally most orders take 3-4 weeks to design/manufacture and shipped out within 4 - 8 weeks upon final approval of the order.
